What are similes?
A simile ('sɪmɪlɪ) is a bit like a metaphor, used to compare (vergleichen) one thing with another thing, in a figurative (bildlich) way. A simile is used to clarify (verdeutlichen) and enhance (verstärken). Signal words are "as" or "like".
For example: "As proud as a peacock"
Often, animals are used in similes. In the quiz below are some commonly (üblicherweise) used animal similes in English, but you could also come up with your own! (Why not leave me a comment below with your very own simile!)
